We believe that the intake appointment or “initial examination” at MOND is one of the most important parts of the range of treatments that take place in the dental practice.

Why do we offer you an intake appointment?

The intake appointment lays the foundation for a good relationship of trust to exist between you as a patient and the dentist. At MOND, we therefore ensure that during this initial consultation there is enough time to listen to what you need and what issues you may be experiencing. This is followed by a comprehensive examination of your teeth and X-rays taken when necessary to put together a full and complete picture of the health of your teeth.

Depending on the information and accompanying documentation (medical history) that you provide to our administrative team, we will try to book you in immediately with the most appropriate dentist. After all, there are several reasons why you may choose to visit a MOND dental practice:

you have moved and are looking for a new dentist
your previous dentist has retired
you have a specific problem for which you are looking for a solution
you want a “second opinion” on a problem and you are unsure about the available solutions
your dentist has referred you to one of our dental specialists

Why do we offer you an intake appointment?

What happens after the intake appointment?

If no particular problems have been identified, it is possible that the dentist will immediately proceed to providing limited treatments such as tartar removal or a polish during this consultation.

In all other cases, the dentist will work with you to develop a treatment plan or recommend that you are booked in to complete a full set of documentation of your teeth, together with accompanying clinical photographs and intra-oral scans taken using our oral scanners. All of this information can then be discussed with the necessary dental specialists. We follow this procedure primarily for extensive, complex problems that require a multidisciplinary approach.
